Championing a Connected and Thriving Community
Find clear answers to your common questions here to stay informed about the Greater Avalon community and our initiatives.

What is the mission of the Greater Avalon Community Association?
The Greater Avalon Community Association (GACA) was formed in summer 2007 to bring people together, advocate for local interests, and enhance the quality of life for residents. It represents vibrant, family-friendly suburb in Orléans (Eastern part of Ottawa) of approximately 25,000 residents, with rich cultural diversity, abundant green spaces, and a strong sense of community. GACA fosters a sense of belonging, by creating opportunities for residents to connect, like the Family Day celebration and the Sustainable Summer Gathering. These gatherings not only bring people together but also encourage volunteerism, strengthening the bonds within the community.
Beyond social events, GACA plays a vital role in advocacy. It serves as a voice for residents, working with municipal leaders, city planners, and businesses to improve local infrastructure, preserve green spaces, and address concerns that matter most to the neighborhood. Through partnerships, GACA has successfully brought together local businesses and organizations, securing resources that help fund initiatives and provide valuable services to residents.
